I always find it funny how Chinese people think Kung fu is the best and are always complaining in the UK when non-chinese are participating in OUR events. IE The annual dragon boat race doesn't even have a single team of full Chinese never mind coming first. Then there is the lion dance during the Chinese new year, again mostly non-chinese are doing the dancing rather than the local Chinese. I think the same applies to everything? does Chinese food always taste better if the chief is Chinese? okay they may have a point there :P
The point being is that Chinese kung fu was heavily influenced by Indian culture with their Buddhist and yoga teachings. Yet Chinese people still think KUNG FU is still the best, they always bring up Bruce lee but he was the first one saying that all the traditional arts were stuck in their ways and needed to modified. A good lesson for China now maybe? Stop dwelling on past glories and get moving into the 22nd century!!! Well will they stop with those cringe worthy parades!!! Geezzz
I really love Yoga, its the source of all the other original martial arts. From Shaolin monks to Mua Thai or Tai Chi. It can all be traced back to India.
Currently and i'm studying the different types of breaths that can be mastered in yoga. ( very similar to tai chi form)
Regardless of fat and weight issues in the west, the more pressing matter of rising mental health will double in western countries as we try to cope with the society we have created for ourselves. Sometimes its probably best to look east for once and see how people use to live.
I for one, think yoga and meditation should be part of the school discipline. It really helps make sense of the crazy world we live in. Plus being able to do the scorpion pose looks kinda cool?
Its been a really bad year for me 2009 but then again so it has for many people i know. From Deaths, illness to people losing their jobs the list goes on. I use to complain but some of my friends have had it worse (One mate lost his mother and now has lost his job and will probably heading back to UK with nothing) and some have it better in some ways.
No one likes to air their own dirty laundray and the biggest improvment has been ridding myself of the negative people around me ( and their entourge). Weither its karma or just vibes, being with good people makes you feel good, and bad makes you feel bad. Just plain simple truth.
Time to make good of the situation and grow regardless of the enviroment. Gaia knows best...
For the first time this year i have started to feel cold, infact i have since stopped wearing a T-shirt and maybe tempted to wear a wooley jumper for the first time.
I'm Just waiting for global warming to kick in, Manchester hasnt seen the sun since 1989 which was a really hot summer when i was a kid. :(
I hate Pacifists, they are all talk and no action !!!
This is probably the funniest thing ive said in years, quite the paul merton moment when i came out with that in a split second. Too bad no-one though it was funny. I suppose the joke was on me .. dOH
I have finally read the book Blind Willow Sleeping woman by Haruki Murakami, its been on my reading list for 1 year and is the only book i have read in maybe 1.5 years! Dam thats shameful.
Murakami is a treat as aways.
The stories that i loved were "hunting knife" and "the ice man" which was filled with weird and wonderful melancholy he is famous for. I'm waiting for After dark to price drop to 3pounds which will since its so close to X-mas. The feel of a book is so much different to reading a pdf file on a computer screen. The one thing i like about reading is the feel of the pages and the turning , by the end you can visually see how many pages you have read and like a graph of start and end of journey. There is nothing like picking up a great 2nd hand book for 50p!
Anyway, its not his best work but those 2 stories are gems.
Recently Ive been have a terrible vision of the future of the world. In it i see the rising economical power of china causing more hatered and aggression towards ethnic chinese in all countries across the world. I see this in less than a ten year period, much like how the world's media seems intent on causing fear with "islamifaction" of western countries. But instead it will be seen as how China is an aggressive power hell bent on disrupting the delicate balance of the world ( Which is in favour of the west), media will point towards the poor human rights record and start to mud sling while the chinese will become defensive and increase military might.
I see Japan falling into line with the west as it has always done and maybe some ethnic groups on the outskirts of china will find sympathy for their cause for rights and independance and even weapons that are mysertuously provided by an un-named source? I really wonder if the tibentans werent all pacifists they woulnd have already been given miltary weapons and training by good old uncle sam.
As china tries to drag itself out of the 3rd world and starts demanidng more from the table of the richer nations, I can only conclude that the easiest way to slow it down is through the co-operation of japan, taiwan and setting up break away independant states to hamper the growth and credability of china.
Another vision i have is that the american empire is broken into 2 capitals , the original in rome and then the UK which heads the european parlimanet much like how rome was split into 2 before it's end. The economical and political power of the UK is tied so strongly with America that there is no chance for the British to get off one stop earlier, its my way or the hightway for the british.
Obama doesnt win a 2nd term as America doesnt recover to the hights of fortune after the recession ( which was obvious because it was all based on false numbers in the first place and thus inflated ) and he is blamed for the burden on the economy that health care reform has become.
America still backs up Israel, Obama's weak foreign policies change nothing and the war rages on and on and on and on ....
The final vision i have is that Palin will make a run for president due to the public demand while splitting her own party because of her obvious short comings. (i.e lack of intelligence and .. common sense?). She runs but it all fizzles out and on the back of the campaign run she releases a film and goes on the dinner party after speech circuit and earns a boat load of cash.
On a side note the price of a Playstation 3 drops and the introduction of HDTV takes off across the globe and Sony figures start to rise. Tangy Haribos still taste just as good and kids get fatter every year while the media spools out TV programs about how people should learn to love who they are.
This is a random and rant post that doenst make sense, I guess what im trying to say in all the uncertanity of the future and world is that....
If theres only one thing in the world and thats Tangy Haribos will always taste just as good.
Time to give up milk. The mounting evidence of milk being bad for you is hard to ignore, I shall miss my 5 cups of tea a day and an occasional Carmel frapachino. ( How do you spell that? )
There is a season of programs tackling race and racism on CH4 in the UK at the moment. The first two programs cover people taking cosmetic surgery to look more "white" and the 2nd program looked at the scientific argument of intelligence in different races. According to the scientists black people perform the worst then its the white people followed by asians at the top. In the end the program concluded that the results for IQ tests were influenced by environment rather than race DNA.
Anyway someone pointed out to me that yes there are differences in race but the difference in a black person and a white person is so small that people shouldn't even concern themselves with it.
his words
" As far as Im concerned we are all the same race. Me, you or the next man down the street. An Elephant and a mouse ...now thats what you call a different race!"
Altho his terminology and definition maybe at fault. I cannot argue against his logic which is essentially true. All humans are just the same regardless of race.
Ive requested an account on Google wave, i wonder if they will get back to me and give me a preview account?
Google are the only ones that seem to try and innovate within the IT arena, must be all the PHD students they have on their books. The Wave feature seems pretty interesting, from my understanding its like a personal forum where you start a new thread/topic and everyone can post a picture, video or a reply.
How long before google connects these individual waves and creates a Tidal wave and destroys the current FAD that is FACEBOOK?
hahaha u boys... :p read more
